Alemania – El portavoz de la junta DAW analiza los desafíos de la implementación del Tratado Estatal sobre el Juego

By - 21 septiembre 2020

Georg Stecker, spokesman for the board of directors of the German Automatenwirtschaft eV (DAW), discussed the challenges of implementing the State Treaty on Gaming in 2021 from the provider’s point of view at a panel of top-class members together with representatives of other gaming offerings.

He was joined by Jürgen Häfner (Managing Director Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate and leader in the German Lotto and Totoblock), Dr. Dirk Quermann (President of the German Online Casino Association), Dr. Martin Lycka (Director of Regulatory Affairs, GVC Holdings) and Manfred Stoffers (Board Member Gauselmann Group).

“We as the German slot machine industry support the new State Treaty on Gaming,” the DAW board spokesman clarified. For the first time, the quality of an amusement arcade plays a decisive role in regulating commercial slot machine gaming. He explained that the federal states would have the option of receiving three-way licenses if they meet special criteria for the protection of players and minors. The companies in the vending machine industry were happy to face the resulting challenges and the additional effort, since qualitative regulation strengthens both youth and consumer protection and proper, legal operations, according to Steck.

With a view to the upcoming implementation laws, he called on the federal states to make use of this option and also to proceed in the same way with the distance rules. This is the only way to effectively separate the wheat from the chaff and to fulfill the important sewerage task.

“Consumer protection, which applies equally everywhere and for all forms of play, and functioning enforcement must have the highest priority,” he demanded and at the same time underlined: “For an attractive offer, we need framework conditions that strengthen the legal terrestrial offers. The permission to combine various legal game offers under one roof would be trend-setting. ”

The panel took place on September 18 as part of the web conference on gambling organised by the Spiegel authorities and was moderated by Uwe Proll, editor-in-chief and publisher of the Spiegel authorities.
